Leeds United transfer news: Whites star on brink of exit, Bielsa eyes up summer swoop for EFL playmaker
Leeds United’s hopes of securing a top half finish in their first season back in the Premier League suffered a blow on Saturday afternoon.
The Whites slumped to a fairly lacklustre 2-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton, with goals from Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck ultimately derailing Marcelo Bielsa's men.
The result leaves Leeds 11th in the table, one point behind Aston Villa having played one game more than Dean Smith’s side.
But Bielsa has made it clear that his side are still have their sights firmly fixed on finishing the season as strongly as possible.
Speaking after Saturday’s loss, he said: “Not to be relegated was our target.
"It was one of the possibilities we had to vanish. After that, every game is an obligation to compete at the maximum level.
"Every time any professional football team plays they have a commitment to entertain their fans and any spectator who is watching”.
Leeds’ next game sees them play host to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday lunchtime.
The Whites came off second best when the two sides met in north London back in January, with goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, and Toby Alderweireld securing a comfortable victory for the hosts.
Spurs are yet to lose a league game under interim boss Ryan Mason either, and strolled to a 4-0 victory over Sheffield United on Sunday thanks to a hat-trick from Gareth Bale and a strike from Son.
