Leeds United transfer news: Whites set to battle for defender, Trio target illustrious talent
Part and parcel of Leeds United’s newfound status as a Premier League club is that they will have to compete with better sides to make the kind of signings they need to keep improving.
Take for example their reported interest in Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez.
The winger is set to become a free agent at the end of the season as talks between himself and the Spanish giants continue to stall, and it has been suggested by a number of outlets that the Whites are eager to snap him up.
But according to an update from Fichajes, they will have to beat off competitions from Serie A side AC Milan if they are to secure his services.
Legendary ex-defender Paolo Maldini is in charge of transfers at the San Siro, and the radio station suggest that he is ‘more than convinced’ that Vazquez would be a good fit for his club.
Nor are they the only side who are eyeing up the wide man.
As per ABC, Tottenham and Everton are both keen as well, and with the opportunity to sign a three-time Champions League winning Spanish international on a free transfer presenting itself, it’s not hard to see why.
Elsewhere, Celtic have joined the race to sign Romain Perraud from Brest.
Some time has passed since Leeds were first linked with the player by Le10Sport, but the Mirror now suggest that the Hoops have stepped into the fray for the full-back.
This isn’t the first time that Celtic have been linked with the 23-year-old, with L’Equipe making similar claims back in 2019.
But Leeds could do a lot worse than beating the Bhoys to his signature.
According to Whoscored, the defender has made 0.7 interceptions more than Ezgjan Alioski per 90 minutes this season, as well as making one clearance more per game and completing more tackles.
Likewise, on the front foot he has completed 0.4 more successful dribbles per outing, made 0.2 more key passes, and delivered 0.8 more accurate crosses.
Evidently, Perraud is a player worth battling for.
