The Leeds United Supporters Trust has joined forces with three local artists as they aim to bring a number of Leeds United themed murals across the city to life.

LUST will team up with Andy McVeigh (aka Burley Banksy), Adam Duffield and Nicolas Dixon following the recent success of "Bielsa the Redeemer" in Wortley and the "Champions" design at Elland Road.

The former was designed and completed last month by Nicolas and Andy while Adam was joined by Whites playmaker Mateusz Klich to put the finishing touches on the mural in ode to promotion in LS11.

The artwork will aim to celebrate the legacy and heritage of the club, as well as remember historic moments from the promotion-winning campaign under Marcelo Bielsa just gone.

The Trust also previously helped fund the iconic mural placed by the Geldard Road underpass near United's home ground, which marked 25 years since the club lifted the First Division title under Howard Wilkinson.

Pete Emmerson, Chairman of the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust said: “After seeing the amazing reaction to the recent Leeds United murals, we thought it would be an exciting and expressive project to work with these Leeds based artists and for us to showcase our passion for the club and how it unites our city.

"Our aim is to bring these celebratory pieces of artwork right across the city and we would like our fans to be involved by sharing their own mural ideas, designs and locations in their local areas.”

A number of ideas are set to be undertaken in the coming months, with plans to pay tribute to United legends Norman Hunter, Jack Charlton and Trevor Cherry well underway following their recent untimely passing.

Nicolas Dixon, said: “After the amazing global success of the Bielsa mural in Wortley it’s a real honour to be able to continue to bring this artwork to life. As a lifelong Leeds fan I’m really proud to be able to combine my two passions - Art and Leeds United, I’m looking forward to being able to spread some more joy around the city.”

Plans are in place to recreate Pablo Hernandez's memorable goal at Swansea City as well as a tribute to club hero Gary Speed.

Adam Duffield said: “As a Leeds fan it was a great honour to work with Mateusz Klich recently on the ‘Champions’ artwork outside Elland Road. I love doing this style of art and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and working with the Supporters’ Trust to bring more of this to life across the city.”

Andy McVeigh added: “I love brightening up the streets around Elland Road and I get so much positive feedback on my Leeds United themed artwork on the communications boxes.

"I'm just happy that I can keep doing what I love doing and celebrate the clubs history around the city."

The Trust is calling on any local businesses to come forward with potential gable ends to help bring the new murals to life. Anybody interested should send a photo and some details of location to [email protected].

As a not for profit group, LUST is also asking the Leeds community for donations to help fund the ongoing costs of the artists time and their materials. A crowdfunding page has been set up where the aim is to initially raise £15,000 to kick start the project: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lustmurals.
