I thought Leeds did quite well against Sheffield Wednesday.

There were some good signs – we looked quite solid and I thought we were the better team.

It was a better performance than we’d seen in the last couple of games and I thought we started the game quite brightly.

We probably never created enough chances but in the second half we created a few and Mirco Antenucci was unlucky a couple of times.

Their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves and I thought we deserved a result on Saturday because, if anything, I felt we just shaded the game and we deserved to win it.

We fought back well after going a goal down and it was a close game but there were signs of improvement.

And it will be a good couple of weeks for the manager now to get working with the players and to get his ideas across.

We don’t really know the extent of how far we can go but these next two weeks will give the head coach an opportunity to get to know the rest of the players in the squad. That’s something he’ll not really have done yet – getting to know the abilities of some of the players like Billy Sharp, Steve Morison and the young Brazilian boy Adryan – players that haven’t played for him.

People were saying that Adryan was the new Kaka but if he was the new Kaka he wouldn’t be playing in the Championship would he? You’ve got to be honest about it.

Nobody has seen the boy play and everyone is clambering for him to play but we’ll just need to see how he performs when he plays.

He could be the new Kaka or the new so and so but Kaka wouldn’t be playing in the Championship at the age of 20.

He’d be playing at higher level and you’ve got to be fair to the boy – the expectation level shouldn’t be too high just now.

He’s a young player and when the opportunity is here well see how he performs.

But over the next two weeks Darko Milanic can have a look at such players in training. I think his main concern so far has been working with the XI players that he was going to start – to try and get his thoughts across to them on how he wants them to play.

I’ve not really had any dealings with Darko Milanic yet. I’ve just said hello to him in passing but I’ve not really spoken to him about football. But I think he seems a knowledgeable fella about the game, I must say that.

And once he gets working with the players and puts his ideas across and gets them to play how he wants them to play, I think the goals and results will pick up.

People say have we ween the real Leeds United yet this season? Well I don’t really know what the real Leeds United is yet. Are we good enough?

Are we going to be an average side? Or are we good enough to push on and try and get in that top six?

I don’t think anybody knows that yet this season because it’s been topsy turvy since the start of the season.

We’re only four points off the play-offs but the league is like that and you get some strange results. Look at Blackpool beating Cardiff on Friday night.

And I just think that little bit of consistency is what we’ve got to try and achieve and then you’ve got a chance of climbing the table.

That’s why I think these next couple of weeks will be important for Darko working with the players and getting to know them; getting to know their abilities and how good they are. Because I don’t think anybody really knows yet how good they can be – or are they just going to be a mid table team?

After the international break we have two tough away games at Rotherham and Norwich but every game you play in this league can be tough depending on how you play yourself. There’s not much between any of the teams.

At this stage of the season, we’ve not had a great season as we’ve won four, lost four and drawn three but we’re still only four points away from the play-offs.

All it takes is a little run but by the same token if you lose a couple of games you could be down near the bottom.
