Leeds United plot raid for 'phenomenal' pass-master, Whites enter race for teenage PL talent

Leeds United are among the clubs interested in luring Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara back to England this summer.

The Finland international was once on the books at Arsenal, but was allowed to leave north London, and made a move to Scotland to kickstart his career with Dundee.

Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, and secured a switch to Ibrox for a nominal fee of £50,000 in January 2019.

The 25-year-old has established himself as an integral figure in Steven Gerrard' s squad in Glasgow, and has featured 45 times in all competitions this term as the Gers stormed their way to the Scottish Premiership title.

Taking all of that into account, it’s understandable that the midfielder is attracting attention from a host of clubs, and the Daily Mail suggest that Leeds are right in the mix to snap him up this summer.

Brighton, Southampton and Burnley also said to be keen, as well as Championship promotion hopefuls Watford.

Signing Kamara won’t be an easy task, however.

For one thing, the Mail claim that the player is content in his current surroundings, and with two years left on his deal at Ibrox, convincing Rangers to sell could be an issue.

Similarly, Gerrard has hailed Kamara as a “phenomenal” asset in recent months, and talk of him being offered a new deal has been mounting for some time now.

But if – and it is a big if at this stage – the Whites could bring the midfielder to Yorkshire, he could prove to be a very astute acquisition.

Cover for Kalvin Phillips feels like a necessity this summer, and Kamara’s pass accuracy of 91% is the best in the entire Scottish Premiership this term, as per Whoscored.

Elsewhere, Leeds are said to be one of a number of clubs who are chasing Sheffield United’s teenage defender Kyron Gordon.

The 18-year-old is yet to make his senior bow for the Blades, but has impressed for the U23s this term, and has been included in a number of first team squads.

With United facing relegation from the top flight, it is understood that several clubs could look to plunder their resources, with Manchester United, Liverpool, and Everton also interested in the youngster.
