A £20m deal for the 21-year-old Frenchman was close, this week after the clubs agreed terms and he flew into England but the YEP understands he is no longer Elland Road bound and the club have not confirmed why.

The Athletic are reporting tonight however that Cuisance failed a medical after tests showed an injury problem.

Marcelo Bielsa was asked about Cuisance in today's press conference to preview Saturday's game against Manchester City and, as has become his tradition, refused to be drawn on the issue.

"I would prefer to talk about him when he is officially our player, I don't want to repeat the episode with [Dan] James," said the Argentine, referencing the infamous deadline collapse for the then Swansea winger in 2019. Leeds had James at Elland Road and had taken pictures with which to announce the signing but Swansea didn't sign off on the deal and time ran out.

Bielsa previously said the club were looking to add two more players to his Premier League squad and Leeds still have time to do business. Any deals for players abroad or plying their trade in the top flight need to be done by Monday, but a domestic window for transfers between Premier League clubs and EFL clubs remains open until 16 October.

The head coach also said that if they don't manage to bring in those players, they will simply 'adapt.'
