Leeds United loanee Izzy Brown steps up comeback with under-23s outing

Leeds United loanee Izzy Brown stepped up his comeback from a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury on Friday afternoon as the Chelsea loanee completed 45 minutes for the Whites under-23s side.

Brown, who joined United on a season-long loan in the summer, picked up the injury whilst on loan at Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in January after just six minutes of their FA Cup clash with Crystal Palace.

The attacking midfielder joined the Whites despite still needing to complete his rehab with Leeds working closely to monitor his progress alongside parent club Chelsea.

Brown's deal also included a clause where Leeds would only contribute towards his weekly wage once he was back fit and available for first-team selection.

The 21-year-old came through the opening 45 minutes unscathed before being replaced at the break by Clarke Oduor.

United will have been pleased with what they saw from the midfielder as he had one moment of magic picking out a lovely ball for Jack Clarke with the winger heading just wide of the post.

Brown's return though was more about getting minutes under his belt and testing out his knee as he twisted and turned during a battle with opposition midfielder Craig Gardner during the opening half.

It was to be a mixed afternoon though as fellow Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman left the field of play with six minutes remaining on a stretcher following a collision with City striker Beryly Lubala.
