CHARLIE TAYLOR is determined to hit the ground running in his quest for regular first-team football at Leeds United.

Taylor is aiming to carry on where he left off on loan at Fleetwood, having played a full part in their promotion to League One last term and write a new chapter in his Whites career in the process after penning a new deal.

And despite a shorter-than-usual break after his play-off exploits with Fleetwood, the left-back insists the new season can’t start soon enough.

He said: “I can’t wait for the games to start in pre-season and hopefully get a few games under my belt and hit the ground running and try and get a place in the team.

“Fleetwood is in the past. All I am focusing on now is the new season. I intend doing the best I can. I feel stronger and fitter than I did last season with my one-v-one defending and all-around game better.

“I am ready more than ever to kick on.

“I know the Championship is tough, but hopefully I can challenge.

“I haven’t had not too long off, but it’s not a problem for me. I was sat at home not doing much and couldn’t wait to get back in.”
