United secured the 17-year-old’s signature before last night’s 11pm transfer deadline and Stevens has joined the club for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder has signed an initial deal with the Whites until the summer of 2020 and United have the option of extending the contract by a further year.

The teenager will initially link up with Carlos Corberan’s under-23 and Stevens could make his debut for the development side in tomorrow afternoon’s clash with Birmingham City at Thorp Arch (1pm kick-off).

Gloucester-born Stevens made his debut for League Two outfit Forest Green against Lincoln City in September and leaves the Gloucestershire side having made 15 appearances, scoring once.

The midfielder is the latest in a raft of recent new arrivals to United’s under-23s with the club having signed four other players for their development side in January in Aapo Halme, Oliver Sarkic, Pascal Struijk and Sam Dalby.

Leeds have also announced that another development squad player, Eoghan Stokes, has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old forward made one appearance for United’s first team having started in the 5-1 victory against Newport County in the second round EFL Cup tie at Elland Road back in August.
