Leeds are aiming to tie up De Bock’s arrival before their trip to Ipswich Town this weekend and were pushing to conclude the transfer yesterday following De Bock’s arrival in England on Monday night.

De Bock travelled to Leeds with his agent having quit Club Brugge’s winter training camp in Spain with talks between United and Brugge at an advanced stage.

Play-off hopefuls Leeds want to add a specialist left-back to their squad in this window and identified De Bock as a target after learning that the defender was seeking a transfer before the end of the month.

De Bock, 25, has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at Brugge but his appearances have been fleeting this season and his prospects diminished by a change in formation under coach Ivan Leko.

Brugge, who De Bock helped win the Belgian title in 2016, lead their division by 11 points and the defender was not expected to feature heavily in the second half of their campaign.

Leeds stepped in with the offer of a long-term deal last week and are on the verge of securing the former Belgium Under-21 international’s signature before the resumption of their Championship season at Portman Road on Saturday.
