Leeds United plan to review Mike Grella’s position at the end of the season after sending the striker on loan to Swindon Town.
Grella has joined the Wiltshire club for the rest of their League One campaign with Leeds manager Simon Grayson admitting that the American had no prospect of featuring for United’s first team in the coming months.
The loan is Grella’s second of the season following a previous spell at Carlisle United, and his last appearance for Leeds came in early August.
His contract at Elland Road runs until the summer of 2012 but he has struggled to make a serious impact under Grayson since signing a long-term deal in 2009.
Grayson, who has four other strikers to choose from, said: “We’ve got loads of attacking options and there’s no point in him sitting around doing nothing or playing in the reserves.
“He can get some regular football with Swindon and we’ll assess his situation come the end of the season.”
