Leeds United have given supporters a first glimpse at the brand new Elland Road playing surface.

The Whites have replaced the turf in LS11 since the visit of Brighton last month after the club found a short-term solution to the issue which has caused problems this season.

A £300k hybrid surface - similar to the one used by Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City - has been installed following a break between games at United's home ground.

The playing surface at Elland Road has been in need of a revamp in recent months and the drainage system is set to be replaced and receive a full overhaul this summer.

The short pre-season following promotion from the Championship left Leeds in the lurch when it came to their pitch plans - with a complete renovation estimated to take over three months.

Recent winter weather has necessitated a mid-season intervention by the Whites after consultation between the board and playing staff.

Leeds have now shown off the new pitch across their social media channels and have given supporters a first look at the brand new playing surface, which will be in use for the first time this evening.

Leeds welcome Everton to West Yorkshire for a top flight clash under the lights and are looking to make it three wins on the bounce in league action.

"How it’s going to be, I don’t know," Bielsa said during his pre-match press conference.

"It doesn’t matter too much, the important thing is to belong to an institution that worries so much about the needs of the team."
