Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has been ruled out of this weekend's Premier League clash with Burnley but fellow defender Diego Llorente has been passed fit.

Marcelo Bielsa's side host the Clarets on Sunday lunchtime (12:00) at Elland Road in top flight action.

Cooper limped off during the 6-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford and has suffered an abdominal strain which will see him miss out against Sean Dyche's men.

"Cooper has a strain in his abdominal. Llorente is in condition to play again," Bielsa told his pre-match press conference.

Asked about when his skipper might return, he said: "Cooper is subject to his evolution."

United will have summer signing and Spain international Llorente back available for the fixture after a second spell on the sidelines.

The 27-year-old picked up a muscular problem on his long-awaited debut at Chelsea earlier this month.

Bielsa will still be without long-term absentees Robin Koch (knee) and Adam Forshaw (hip) for the game.

Burnley, meanwhile, are waiting on wingers Robbie Brady and Dwight McNeil for their visit to West Yorkshire. The pair were both forced off through injury against Wolves at Turf Moor on Monday night.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Jack Cork are two players who the visitors will definitely be without, with the duo not expected to feature over the festive period despite returning to training recently.

Matej Vydra is also a doubt for the match with a back issue.
