But Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa has said that Costa will probably return to the starting line up for United's next assignment at home to Stoke City in a 5pm Thursday kick-off which is live on Sky.

Costa began his career at Benfica before having loan spells at Deportivo La Coruna and AS Monaco.

The winger then joined Wolves on loan in 2016 and went on to become the club's player of the season before signing permanently for a then club record transfer fee.

Costa then went on to make 36 appearances the following season with the winger netting five goals and providing six assists as Wolves sealed promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners.

His first cap for Portugal followed at the end of the season and Costa then made 16 league starts for Wolves in their first season back in the Premier in 2018-19 as well as nine outings from the bench.
