The chief executive, who admitted his was one of the sore heads in Leeds today after the club celebrated promotion late into the night, has already messaged staff at the club to tell them the work to become Premier League ready starts on Monday.

Of course the planning has been going on for two years for the freshly crowned Championship champions and tranfer targets have already been identified, with recruitment work starting as early as today.

Kinnear wasn't sure if Bielsa would allow himself a moment of celebration last night when a top-two place was guaranteed by Huddersfield's win over West Brom, but as a viral video on social media has shown, the Argentine was overjoyed. He shared emotional embraces with Kalvin Phillips, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford, after visiting the promotion party that was underway at Elland Road.

This morning Bielsa was serenaded by his players and staff as he arrived at Thorp Arch in a Volkswagen Golf and raised his arms in triumph, a broad grin all over his face.

"Marcelo, it's the most excited I've seen him, he's normally so focused and so driven," said Kinnear.

"I didn't know whether there would be any sense of celebration from him yesterday or whether he'd be looking at the next two games. But actually he's put so much into the task here that he was obviously thrilled yesterday. We were there together at Elland Road, enjoying it. He made sure he spoke to all the staff, thanked them for the part they've played. If you see the videos online and the reaction the players had to him you see the esteem they hold him in and the relationship he has with them. He's a tough taskmaster, the players haven't had it easy but if you see him embracing Kalvin and Pablo you get a sense of the unity we have in the team and that's been a strength this season."

Today's defeat for Brentford confirmed Leeds' status as champions adding another layer to celebrations that will go on for some time in the city. At Elland Road, they're already gearing up for the next challenge - existing in the top flight.

Some of the immediate work to be done surrounds the players they want to bring in and some of revolves around Bielsa himself. But Kinnear speaks about the 2020/21 campaign in a manner that suggests Leeds are confident of keeping their promotion-winning head coach for at least a third season.

"The planning starts now," said Kinnear.

"I actually sent a message to all the staff congratulating them and telling them we need to remember this experience and this achievement because we need to start on Monday making sure this isn't a one-off, this is the type of thing Leeds get to celebrate in the future.

"Victor, Andrea and I will be straight in with Marcelo next week, talking about plans for next season, exactly as we did at the start of this season. He has a review, he knows the direction he wants to take the club in and it'll go from things we need on the playing side right through to changes he wants to be made at Thorp Arch and the backroom staff. Obviously his own personal arrangements as well we need to resolve."

Bielsa has not traditionally stuck around at a club for a very long time but Kinnear felt that even if promotion had not been achieved and Leeds had remained in the Championship, with a 'financial reset' necessary to comply with profit and sustainability rules, Bielsa would still have wanted to be involved. That will give Leeds fans everywhere real hope that a marriage made in heaven and their honeymoon period with Bielsa will carry on.

"The challenge with Marcelo is that intentions are always a bit of a mystery because he's always focused on the next game, you're a brave to try and distract him from the task of the next match," said the chief executive.

"I think he's fallen in love with the club, I think he's committed to it. I actually think he was committed to the Championship. We hadn't had a specific conversation but he's been very, very focused on what we've done with the academy, getting that to Cat One status, he's hugely focused on developing the younger players. If we hadn't made it, it would probably have been the case that we'd be competing in the Championship with a younger squad and I think that challenge appealed to him."
