Of the players used by Leeds United last season, no fewer than six were produced by the club’s academy: Lewis Cook, Sam Byram, Alex Mowatt, Charlie Taylor, Kalvin Phillips and Chris Dawson.

Here, the YEP looks at the most likely candidates to follow them off the Thorp Arch conveyer belt:

Lewis Walters: A pacy forward, 20, who’s been very close to the first team for a while and would have played last season but for injury. Uwe Rosler has involved him heavily in this pre-season.

Lewie Coyle : A 19-year-old right-back and brother of Hull boxer Tommy. Always spoken of highly in dispatches from the Under-21s and went with Leeds on the tour to Austria and Norway last month.

Alex Purver: A steady, holding midfielder who captained the development squad for much of last term. The 19-year-old went with Leeds to Birmingham last September without making the final 18-man squad.

Jake Skelton : Another regular in United’s Under-21s and, as the saying goes, a good size for a centre-back. Some at Thorp Arch hope for big things from him. Turned 19 in April.
