Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi will step up his comeback from injury with an appearance for the club’s Under-23s tonight.

Berardi is due to turn out against Bristol City this evening as he edges towards a first-team return following a hamstring strain suffered last month.

The Swiss full-back has not featured for Garry Monk’s senior side since limping out of a 3-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers on the opening weekend of the season.

Monk has left him out of the squad for tomorrow’s Championship match away at Bristol City and Berardi will be used with the development squad this evening instead.

Speaking last week, Monk said: “With Berra, if I'm realistic, we’re probably looking more when we come out of the next international break in terms of him being ready for selection.”
