Leeds accepted an invitation to play in the 2020/21 competition after the club's Academy achieved Category One status.

Category One Academy sides who feature in the EFL Trophy can field under-21 sides against League One and League Two opponents, with the chance to reach Wembley for the final.

The group stage draw will take place on Tuesday at 1.30pm on TalkSPORT 2 with the League One and League Two clubs in each of the 16 groups already decided.

The draw is split into a Northern Group Stage and Southern Group Stage with Leeds one of eight clubs set to be added to the northern section along with Aston Villa, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Wolves.

As ball no 2, should Leeds be drawn in Group H, a Leeds under-21s side would face newly-promoted League Two side and near neighbours Harrogate Town along with Hull City and Grimsby Town who complete that particular group.

Group A, meanwhile, features third tier giants Sunderland along with Carlisle United and Fleetwood Town.

A place in Group B would throw up another clash against Salford City and their Manchester United class of 92 while Bradford City are in Group F.

The first round of games in the competition will take place on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9, shortly before the start of the new Premier League season the following weekend.
