PEP CLOTET is being strongly linked with the vacant managerial position at Oxford United – the League One club offering a potential quick route into management for Garry Monk’s former No 2.
Clotet is set to leave Leeds United when his Whites contract ends, with new head coach Thomas Christiansen having already recruited his own backroom staff.
Clotet was not considered for the vacant head coach role at Elland Road following Monk’s departure and the 40-year-old has already confirmed that he is seeking a new stage in his career, but that he will not be joining Monk at his new club Middlesbrough.
Now the Spaniard is being linked with Oxford, who are seeking a replacement to Michael Appleton who has left to become assistant manager to Craig Shakespeare at Leicester City.
Ambitious Oxford finished eighth in League One last season and are set to offer their new boss a competitive budget for the division.
Leeds welcome Oxford to Elland Road for their final pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 29 - a game that was part of the deal for bringing Kemar Roofe to the club last summer.
