Leeds United need to look no further than Millwall's last visit to Elland Road for renewed belief in their push for promotion to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa's outfit enter the clash with just one win in their last seven Championship outings, but still hold a three point advantage over Fulham in third place despite a disappointing run of form.

Following defeat at Queens Park Rangers 10 days ago, United's woes were in full swing and panic was setting in across the club.

A Nahki Wells goal that should never have stood, a Patrick Bamford penalty miss, a Kalvin Phillips red card and the dreaded London curse striking again at Loftus Road.

Off the field, though, it has been a settling week following the acquisition of Manchester City winger Ian Poveda and RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.

Spirits have been lifted without kicking a ball as United sat back and took in this weekend's FA Cup action.

Director of football Victor Orta has held up his end of the bargain in the transfer market, now it's over to Bielsa and his players to put that into action.

The Lions visit to West Yorkshire presents the perfect opportunity.

'Believe' - as the east stand displayed ahead of kick-off - was the message for Millwall's last trip to LS11 in late March and Leeds can draw inspiration from a day that showed the fighting spirit that this football club can possess.

Pablo Hernandez's magical double, Luke Ayling's swinging arms and Barry Douglas driving on from left-back despite suffering knee ligament damage that would ultimately end his season; even a Bamford penalty miss couldn't derail the day.

Ben Thompson opened the scoring with a header after 10 minutes before goalkeeper David Martin pushed away Bamford's tame effort from the spot.

Hernandez drew Leeds level after the half hour mark, with the race for the top two in full swing as Sheffield United went back and forth with Bristol City.

The visitors themselves were handed a penalty after the interval, which Ben Marshall converted - and it was doom and gloom once again as the winger celebrated in front of the south stand with a cup of the ear.

The Whites, though, dug deep and sparked into life as Douglas limped down the left to provide Ayling with the perfect ball as he powered a header home 19 minutes from time.

United believed, and so did their Spanish playmaker in the middle who was determined not to waste his chance.

Tyler Roberts sprinted to the byline and drilled a low ball to the penalty spot which found the late run of Hernandez. It was his 12th of the season, and perhaps his most important as Elland Road erupted with seven minutes remaining.

Believe. Leeds did that day, and tonight a performance to match will renew promotion hopes again.
