Lee Johnson's Bristol City Elland Road game plan belief, Robins thoughts on Leeds United's recent slump under Marcelo Bielsa

Bristol City's assistant manager believes Lee Johnson's side have a game plan that can "affect" Leeds United this weekend.

The Robins travel to Elland Road sat seventh in the table but are just three points behind Marcelo Bielsa's side.

United have seen the chasing pack close in following a dip in form since the turn of the year but still remain second on goal difference despite just two wins in their last 11 league games.

The Whites picked up a battling point in a 1-1 draw at Brentford on Tuesday night, and now have two home games in LS11 to get their quest for the top flight back on track.

City defeated Derby County in midweek and know that a victory in West Yorkshire would thrust Johnson's outfit right into the hunt for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Robins assistant Jamie McAllister, though, is under no illusions at how difficult a task City are facing, but believes they have found a solution despite having lost all three previous meetings with Bielsa's Leeds.

"We have got a game plan, we think it’s going to affect them," assistant manager McAllister said.

"Everyone is saying about how poorly Leeds are at the moment, and their form is. But their games we’ve watched they’ve been excellent. They’ve just been unfortunate not to get the three points.

"Against Brentford the other day, they were very good on Tuesday night. To go to Brentford and really dominate the ball in the first half, and the second half they created some chances.

"It’s a great atmosphere up there, they’ve got to go and love playing.

"There will be 30,000 there, a great game with both teams going to win the game. Hopefully we can turn their crowd, in the first 15-20 minutes if we start that well, hopefully we turn their crowd a little bit.

"It’s an important three points. It’s a great place to go, Elland Road will be bouncing. They’re obviously looking for a win so it’ll be a top, top Championship game."

Asked his thoughts on Bielsa, he added: "Excellent, a top coach. One of the best in the world.

"His style of play, his movements and rotations, and how they play with such energy. They’ve got real quality in the side as well, so it’s a big challenge for us."
