Wood, who has netted four times this term following his seven-figure move from Leicester City, missed Sunday’s 3-0 loss at Middlesbrough due to a knock.

The striker has responded well to treatment and will be assessed today, with a view to possible inclusion in Saturday’s home clash with Birmingham City.

Will Buckley is in the mix for an immediate debut, with his 93-day loan move from Sunderland expected to officially go through tomorrow, with the player having trained at Thorp Arch throughout the week.

On Wood, head coach Rosler said: “We knew that Chris Wood was missing last week and he’s improving. We’ll see where he is.

“I’ll pick the best team I can for the next game – that’s what I’ve always done.

“We’ve had a good week. It was without a midweek week game so there is no fatigue coming into it.”

And on the prospects of Buckley being involved against Blues, Rosler added: “Definitely, he’s competing for a place.

“He brings experience in the Championship and experience of playing for a team who challenge at the top of the Championship.

“He brings pace, directness, goal-threat and he’s a good lad.

“He’s perfectly suited to our squad.”
