United's players are returning to training at Thorp Arch this week with the majority of players back on Monday and a select group including some of the club's internationals back at the end of the week.

Leeds will take in their first pre-season friendly at York City on Wednesday, July 10 with United's new Championship season beginning at Bristol City on Sunday, August 4.

Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa wants new options on the wings with Leeds having targeted Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Helder Costa, Liverpool's Ryan Kent and last season's Manchester City loanee Jack Harrison as well as young Brighton centre-back Ben White.

Reports in Italy over the weekend via Corriere Della Sera also suggested that Leeds were looking to sign Italy's World Cup winning goalkeeper Buffon but those suggestions are well wide of the mark and fly in the face of United's transfer policy.

Buffon - who commands a huge salary - left Paris St-Germain earlier this month after 17 seasons with Juventus.

The YEP also understands that there has been no concrete offers for Whites teen winger Jack Clarke despite clear interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Clarke was present for the return to training at Thorp Arch on Monday with Leeds now 16 days away from their first pre-season friendly.
