Barry Douglas believes Leeds United have now set the standard required for the rest of the season following a strong performance against Arsenal.

Marcelo Bielsa's side fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates but were left proud of a battling display as they opened up Mikel Arteta's side on a number of occasions in a dominant first half.

Left-back Douglas was one of four changes in the capital for Leeds, as the Scot made just his fifth start of the campaign in North London.

The 30-year-old, though, has thrown down a marker to his team-mates in a bid to sustain a similar level of performance as the Championship leaders aim for promotion to the top flight this term.

“We’ve set the standard," Douglas said. "That’s the demands we put on ourselves and what the manager puts on us and it is up to us to sustain that now.

“We’re a team that when we’re on it and at the races, pressing like that we can cause problems for any team.

"It was a great spectacle to be a part of, we’re a bit gutted not to take anything from the game, but it's nights like this that you want to be involved in.

“It was nice to be back out there and get 90 minutes, but we’re a bit disappointed coming away from the game.

“I thought we gave a great account of ourselves and we matched them, on our day we would have converted some of our chances.

“Things changed in the second half, they pressed us higher up to stop us playing out, but it was a good game overall."
