United are heading for top tier football for the first time since the club's relegation in May 2004 having stormed to the Championship title by finishing ten points clear of runners-up West Brom.

But despite now taking on the country's big guns, Phillips says there will be no change to United's approach or football with the midfielder also sure that plenty of Premier League sides will be taken aback by United's huge fan-base on their top flight return.

Asked what the Premier League can expect, Phillips told United's official website: "Just the same as what the EFL saw, a team that was very hard working, very robust and always showed what they're capable of under pressure.

"As a fan base, we're probably the best in England if not the world and I think teams will be very surprised by that.

"Hopefully it all comes together for a very good season."

Reflecting on how excited he was to see United's fans eventually return when permitted amidst the country's ongoing fight against coronavirus, Phillips said: "Very excited, we can't wait to have them back.

"We've missed them over the last four or five months, it's been hard but I think we adapted well to what had happened.

"Once they're back, I think that's when we'll see what it's really like to be back in the Premier League."
