Shackleton did return earlier this month for the Whites Under-23s side before making a cameo appearance in the Championship win over Reading.

The Thorp Arch academy product, though, has been missing once again in recent weeks having aggravated the problem upon after stepping off the bench late on at the Madejski stadium.

He now says he is aiming to make another comeback over the busy festive period starting with the visit of Preston North End on Boxing Day which could hand Bielsa a timely boost during a run of four games in twelve days.

"I had some problems with my hamstring after the West Brom game," he admitted.

"And I came back in probably a bit too soon. I’ve felt it again in training, but we are looking at being back for Boxing Day hopefully."
