Jack Harrison admitted Leeds United found Brighton's compact defence hard to break down during the Whites 1-0 defeat at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were well beaten by the visiting Seagulls in LS11 on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds put in a lacklustre performance and fell behind after 17 minutes as Neal Maupay tapped home unchallenged following a brilliant team move.

United responded after the half-time interval with Bielsa making all three substitutions during the second period.

Leeds, though, failed to ever really threaten Robert Sanchez' goal and handed Brighton their first victory in 10 Premier League outings.

Harrison was honest in his appraisal post-match, saying the hosts struggled against a team who defended resolutely in West Yorkshire.

"They defended really well and made it difficult for us to play our usual game," Harrison reflected.

"We struggled to create chances, fair play to them they played the game they wanted to play and made it hard for us."

"They had a very compact defence and we struggled to break them down or get in behind them.

"Our style is attacking and creating chances but we struggled to do that today. They've obviously done there homework and studied how we play.

"It's something we have to look back on. We have to review it and get ready for next week.

Asked about the final outcome, he said: "I always had the feeling something would come but unfortunately it didn't for us.

"I don't think we deserved the defeat today but sometimes you have to make the most of these games and we didn't."
