Liam Cooper expects a tough test from Brighton & Hove Albion this afternoon but is hoping the Seagulls style of play will suit Leeds United.

The Whites host Graham Potter's men at Elland Road (3pm) with United returning to Premier League action following last weekend's FA Cup exit to Crawley Town.

Leeds are aiming to bounce back from a third round defeat, looking to build on a strong campaign in the top flight so far.

United have picked up 23 points from 17 games ahead of kick-off, sitting 12th in the table following promotion last term.

Club captain Cooper is hoping he and his teammates can keep their Premier League form going against the Seagulls, who similarly to Marcelo Bielsa's outfit have a commitment to attacking play under Potter.

“Brighton are a good side, it will be a tough test and hopefully one we can go and win," Cooper said ahead of kick-off.

“They are a big threat, they’ve got a lot of good attacking players and they’re a good team who try to play.

“They’ll bring the game to us and I think that will suit us as well.

“I’m obviously looking forward to seeing Ben (White) again, it will be nice to see him, but all we want to do is win the game.

“We’ve got to beat the teams around us and we’ve managed to do that so far, but we know how difficult and important these games are.

“We’ll go out and be us, we’ll be on the front foot with high energy and hopefully that can get us a positive result.

“The lads have trained so hard this week, we’ve had a tough session of murderball, it was of a very high standard and we’re all looking forward to the game now.”
