Brentford lined up for Saturday lunch-time's clash at Stoke City as the only team who could overhaul front-runners Leeds who had sealed automatic promotion on Friday night via second-placed West Brom's defeat at Huddersfield Town.

Frank's Bees then approached Saturday's contest at Stoke having won eight games in succession and knowing a point would take them above West Brom but Lee Gregory bagged the only goal of the game for the Potters seven minutes before the break.

The defeat took Brentford's automatic promotion destiny back out of their own hands as Leeds also sealed the Championship title but Frank was gracious in defeat and complimentary to Bielsa's Whites.

"This is the Championship and this is what can happen," said Frank in his post-match analysis on Sky Sports.

"We knew it would be a difficult game to play against Stoke.

"That's it, we lost a football match and we need to move on to the next one.

"I need to say congratulations to Leeds, to Bielsa and his staff and the players because I think it's a good job they have done.

"They came to the club two years ago and were contenders last year and they won the Championship this year.

"I am only a fan of one club in England and that's Brentford but I like the big stories of let's say Liverpool winning their first championship in 30 years and now Leeds are back so congratulations to them."

Leeds has a fantastic story to tell - and the Yorkshire Evening Post has been rooted firmly at the heart of telling the stories of our city since 1890.
