Former Whites forward Wilks joined the Tigers from Barnsley on a six-month loan deal on January 17 and Wilks has netted three goals in last four games.

The 21-year-old was ineligible for Wednesday night's Championship clash against his parent club but the striker appears set to start against his former employers in Saturday's clash at the KCOM

“He’s looking forward to it,” said McCann of Wilks to the Hull Daily Mail.

“I’ve spoken to Mallik and it’s a game he’s looking forward to. I think he’s had a really positive start to his Hull City career.

"He’s a threat because he’s quick and he’s strong, he’s direct.

"He’s scoring goals and he’s in good form.

“He’s getting fitter as well. You have to remember when he came to us he hadn’t played for a while.

“Neither had Marcus Maddison either.

"We had to get them up to speed and we feel as if Mallik, in particular, is looking very good.”
