Hull City 0 Leeds United 4 - Whites maul Tigers to boost promotion hopes at the KCOM

Leeds United ran riot on Saturday lunchtime as they secured a 4-0 victory over Hull City in the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa made two changes for the trip to the KCOM stadium as Illan Meslier replaced the banned Kiko Casilla in goal while Kalvin Phillips returned for Gaetano Berardi.

It took the Whites just five minutes to open the scoring in the lunchtime clash as the travelling fans were sent wild.

Full-back Luke Ayling collected the ball from distance and left fly as he shot from 25-yards took a huge deflection off Callum Elder and into the corner of the net.

United almost instantly doubled the advantaged following good work from Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison.

The Spaniard drifted inside the box and struck a thunderous effort which clipped both the crossbar and the post before staying out of George Long's goal.

Leeds, though, failed to add another to the scoreline as the afternoon suffered a lull ahead of half-time.

Kevin Stewart saw two shots blocked on Illan Meslier's goal but it was all the hosts could muster before the interval.

Sean McLoughin went close with a header immediately after the break but it was United who added to the scoreline just three minutes from the restart.

A deep ball from Jack Harrison found Helder Costa in acres of space with the winger sliding in Hernandez.

The playmaker took one glance and slotted the ball past the onrushing Long.

Bielsa's side then let rip at the hosts as Costa twice forced the Tigers stopper into strong saves before Harrison himself curled an effort onto the bar from outside the box.

Grant McCann's side did threaten on a rare flurry forward as substitute Norbert Balogh crashed the post with a volley.

It was a change of United's own that settled the afternoon in the late stages as Tyler Roberts replaced Patrick Bamford.

The forward finished off a lovely team move that started at left-back with Stuart Dallas as he swept home from the penalty spot.

Roberts, though, wasn't finished there though as he lost his marker in the box to guide a well-timed header home into the far corner from a Mateusz Klich cross.

It was to be the last of the meaningful action in East Yorkshire as Leeds secured three points to go eight points clear of third ahead of the afternoon's action.
