In the meantime, for a bit of fun, we fired up the latest edition of Football Manager, and simulated the game into the future. We had a look at the starting XI and the manager it predicts will be on show for the Whites on the opening day of the 2020/21 season.
1. New season, new division
Unsurprisingly, FM has predicted Leeds to go the final few yards and finally secure promotion back to the Premier League. They open the 2020/21 season at home to Sheffield United. Here's how they line up:
2. GK: Kiko Casilla
The ex-Real Madrid man is still the main man between the sticks, with Will Huffer landing a new deal and securing a spot on the bench after Illan Meslier wasn't signed permanently.
3. RB: Kyle Walker-Peters
With Luke Ayling sold to Newcastle United, the Whites bring in the Spurs youngster for 5.5m. He's got bags of potential, and boasts some very impressive work rate stats.
4. CB: Dael Fry
Ben White never joined permanently, but Leeds found an excellent replacement in the Middlesbrough man. He cost a hefty 15.5m, but will be a fine investment for years to come.
5. CB: Liam Cooper
The Scotsman is still the skipper, and ends a decade-long wait to make his return to Premier League football by starting against the Blades.
6. LB: James Justin
The Whites splashed 20m to bag the versatile defender from Leicester City, and put him straight into the starting line-up ahead of Ezgjan Alioski.
