How and when to watch as Leeds United discover Papa John's Trophy opponents
LEEDS United will discover their first round opponents for the club's under-23s in the Papa John's Trophy on Thursday afternoon.
Leeds entered the competition known as the EFL Trophy for the first time last season having earned category one academy status after promotion to the Premier League.
The tournament sees 16 invited under-23s teams placed into their respective Northern and Southern section groups and 48 EFL clubs placed into predetermined groups prior to the draw.
The draw for round one will take place at 4.30pm on Thursday and be screened live on Sky Sports.
If there is a situation where two teams meet in the group stages for a second successive season, then the club who was at home in 2020/21 will play away in 2021/22.
All EFL clubs will play two of their three matches at home in the group stages.
Leeds went out in the first round last season after a 7-0 hammering at Accrington Stanley was followed by a 2-2 draw at Barrow and 3-0 defeat at Blackpool.
That meant United finishing bottom of Group G but Mark Jackson's side then went to win the Premier League 2 Division Two title, storming their way to promotion.
It means that Leeds will be playing in the top tier of Academy football this season of Premier League 2 Division One.
