'He is an absolute genius' - Danny Cowley heaps praise on Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa once again

Danny Cowley has hailed Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa as a 'genius'.

The former Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town manager is currently out of work following his sacking by the Terriers last July.

Cowley's last act in charge of United's West Yorkshire neighbours was victory over West Bromwich Albion which ensured Huddersfield of their Championship status.

The victory, though, also saw Leeds promoted to the Premier League and sparked celebrations across the city that had been 16 years in the making.

Bielsa has guided the Whites to 23 points from 17 games in the top flight so far this term, sitting 12th in the table as the season nears the halfway mark.

Leeds also boast a healthy 12 point gap over the relegation zone as they look to establish themselves as a Premier League club again.

Cowley faced the Argentine on two occasions last season with Town, praising his opposite number in the dugout after each meeting.

The 42-year-old has once again hailed the Leeds boss for his work within the game, speaking ahead of United's FA Cup third round clash with League Two outfit Crawley Town on Sunday.

"Without a doubt he's the best we've faced," Cowley told Football Focus.

"He's a genius. Absolute genius. We talk about philosophy in football and he actually has his own. He's been great to watch in the Premier League with that man-to-man aggressive pressing game.

"It's also the way they [Leeds] play in possession with so much purpose and intensity. Amazing."
