The England number one picked up an injury in Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle United, and Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that he will not be available for tomorrow’s game at Elland Road.

The 26-year-old has come in for criticism at various points this season, and was widely blamed for the goal that saw Leicester City pick up a point against his side last week.

Given his shaky performances in recent weeks, many Leeds fans have taken to Twitter express their disappointment at his absence.

We’ve gathered a number of reactions below:

@CoatonDean tweeted: “Bad news for us about Pickford there!”

@JbLufc1919 tweeted: “Just our luck for Pickford to be injured. Guaranteed goal when he plays”.

@smjordan33 tweeted: "Gutted that Pickford’s not playing as you can often rely on an error to get you a goal”

Some fans took a much more optimistic view of the update, however, citing Pickford’s impressive display in Leeds’ 1-0 win over Everton back in November:

@JP08895303 tweeted: “The obvious joke is about Pickford missing, but he was brilliant last time. Only for him we would have scored 5 at least”.

@russcausier tweeted: “Good, had a decent game first time against us”.

@rgnhnds tweeted: “That's good news, everyone saying he would help us. Don't forget, he'll have the game of his life against Leeds like they all do...”
