Adam, 35, left his homeland in 2009 to join Blackpool before going on to play for Liverpool, Stoke City and Reading during his 11 years in England.

But the Dundee midfielder only managed to play at Elland Road once, featuring as a substitute in the Royals’ 1-0 defeat to Leeds last season.

Adam hailed the “incredible atmosphere” and expressed his delight at Marcelo Bielsa’s men being back in the Premier League.

He told Sky Sports’ Football Show: "I love Kalvin Phillips, I think he’s terrific, obviously got his debut for England.

"You’ve got (Jack) Harrison on one side, Rodrigo on the other, (Patrick) Bamford upfront, (Liam) Cooper at the back is a good centre-back.

"You’ve got your unsung heroes like Stuart Dallas, Luke Ayling – people like that who have progressed through the leagues.

"It’s great to see these lads get opportunities to play in the top league and perform week in, week out.

“It’s a huge club, a place I always wanted to play – I was fortunate enough I got that opportunity last season to play at Elland Road with Reading.

"The atmosphere was incredible – it’s a massive club and it’s great to see them back in the Premier League."
