Former Leeds United youth player aims for Spanish dream after signing

Matty Fossen is a centre-back/central midfielder who has previously played for Leeds United U18, Bradford City U18's, Halifax Town, IAFE and RIASA Academy.

Matty will now be heading to Burgos in Spain after signing a one-year deal with CD Bupolsa - a third tier team in the country.

He got the opportunity after playing in Norway for a season for SK Herd in Aalesund - an experience Matty described as amazing.

Matty told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I will be heading to Burgos in Spain to play for a team called CD Bupolsa in the next few weeks, joining up with them for preseason.

"I've signed a one year deal and can't wait to get out there.

"The exact date isn't known yet as decisions need to be made at league level, but I'm ready to get out there and start playing football as soon as the club give the go ahead. I can't wait to meet up with my new team mates."

Matty said Bupolsa are a really ambitious club in the third tier of Spanish football.

He added: "They got there very quickly, with three promotions since their inception in 2006.

"This season they've been attracting players from all over the world, including Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, and of course myself from England.

"I played a full season [in Norway] and really enjoyed playing in a different culture and the opportunity to grow as a professional.

"Spain will obviously be a totally different climate and an even bigger opportunity to move forward with my career after developing in England."

Matty said the aim was to move forward in his career and reach 'his full potential'.

He said: "I'm very happy to be playing abroad and comfortable with travelling and love seeing the world, but I also have an eye on getting a club back in Yorkshire in the future."
