Fixtures confirmed and early Sky games for resumption of Leeds United's promotion quest

LEEDS UNITED will finally resume their Championship promotion push on Sunday, June 21 with a 12 noon kick-off at Cardiff City live on Sky Sports.

United’s second game back after the pause in play due to the country’s fight against coronavirus will also be live on Sky with key promotion rivals Fulham visiting Elland Road for a 3pm kick-off the following Saturday - June 27.

Championship front-runners Leeds will then take on relegation battlers Luton Town at Elland Road on Tuesday, June 30 for a 7.45pm kick-off.

A total of 11 fixtures have been selected for live Sky Sports coverage over the first three rounds of remaining games but another 19 fixtures will be shown live and further Sky television selections will be announced in due course.

The Championship season’s first game back will be third-placed Fulham’s clash against fourth-placed Brentford at Craven Cottage with a 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday, June 20 live on Sky.

Second-placed West Brom - who trail Leeds by a point - will then host Birmingham City in the day’s second Sky game at 3pm.

United’s clash at Cardiff is the only Sunday game as part of the opening weekend with every other Championship fixture as part of that round of games played on the Saturday.

Leeds have not played since the 2-0 win at home to Huddersfield Town on March 7 with the English football season then becoming suspended later that month amidst the nation’s battle with COVID-19.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites sit top of the division and hold a seven-point cushion in the Championship’s automatic promotion spots with nine games left.

Following their trip to Cardiff and Elland Road encounters against Fulham and Luton, United’s second away game back will be at Blackburn Rovers with a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, July 4.

The clash at Ewood Park will be followed by the hosting of Stoke City on Tuesday, July 7 for a 7.45pm kick-off.

Leeds will then visit Swansea City for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, July 11 before entertaining Barnsley in a 7.45pm kick-off on Tuesday, July 14.

United will then travel to Derby County for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, July 18 with the season concluding on Wednesday, July 22 at home to Charlton Athletic as part of a full round of fixtures on that final day with kick-off times to be confirmed.

Sky Sports will broadcast 30 of the remaining 108 Championship matches and Leeds United’s 2019/20 season ticket holders will not miss any of the action as all home and away fixtures will be streamed via a Club’s iFollow (or equivalent) service.

Access to the games will be determined by the club where the supporter holders a season ticket and may be in lieu of a refund or part of a wider package as determined by each individual Club.

The 30 live Sky matches will also be available to the EFL’s overseas broadcasters via the League’s partnership with Pitch International.

Quest will also provide extended highlights on both Saturday evenings and midweek, whilst talkSPORT will provide exclusive national radio commentary on some Championship matches.

The Championship will take a one-week break after the first round of remaining fixtures and the second weekend back will see four Championship games shown live on Sky, starting with West Brom’s clash at Brentford with a 7.45pm kick-off on Friday, June 26.

Cardiff’s trip to Preston North End will then be shown live the following day with a 12.30pm kick-off before United’s hosting of Fulham at 3pm.

Both of the Championship fixtures on Sunday, June 28 will be live on Sky with Bristol City hosting Sheffield Wednesday for a 12 noon kick-off and Nottingham Forest welcoming Huddersfield Town at 2.15pm.

Three games are being shown live on Sky as part of the third round of fixtures involved in the Championship’s restart as part of a full batch of mid-week games.

Millwall will entertain Swansea City for a 5pm kick-off on Tuesday, June 30 with Derby County’s trip to Preston at the same time the following night also live on Sky.

The sole Championship fixture on Thursday, July 2 will then see Hull City host Middlesbrough for another 5pm kick-off live on Sky.
