The 17th-placed Tigers have gone nine Championship games without a victory - losing seven of them - with Grant McCann's side now only four points above the dropzone following Wednesday night's 1-0 loss at home to Barnsley.

The Tigers also have nine players out injured as they prepare to take on a second-placed Leeds side who have won their last three.

Irishman McLoughlin, though, a July 2019 recruit who has recently returned from a loan spell at St Mirren, says the Tigers are in determined mood to right the recent wrongs and relishing the prospect of taking on the Whites.

“I’ve only been at Hull City for a short while but I already understand that a game against Leeds United is a big one in the calendar,” McLoughlin told Hull City's official website.

“I’m excited about experiencing this fixture for the first time and I think all the boys are looking forward to being back out on the field.

“Our midweek game against Barnsley was a disappointing one.

"We knew it was going to be battle with the form that we are in and the position that they are in, and we didn’t get the result that we wanted.

"Thankfully, it’s a quick turnaround and there has been little or no opportunity to dwell on Wednesday night’s defeat.

“I know that every single player will be up and firing for tomorrow’s game.

"We are all determined to put in a big performance because that is something we owe after recent results.

“We know that it will be a tough game with Leeds having got back into a bit of form over the last couple of weeks but we are ready to meet the challenge head on.

"We are all determined to put in the type of performance that a fixture like this demands.

“We know we have to stick together at times like this and that is what we will do as we look to secure a positive result.”
