'Door opens' for Leeds United to sign Premier League youngster as Whites suffer defender blow

Leeds United could be set to send another starlet out on loan as they weigh up whether to make any signings themselves this month.

The Elland Road outfit have been linked with a number of potential moves, particularly defensively, though Marcelo Bielsa is content with the make-up of his squad despite their awful FA Cup exit at the hands of Crawley Town last time out.

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori continues to be mentioned with a possible move to Leeds on loan, though reports today suggested that the Blues may prefer to send him abroad. Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in the England international.

One player who could be loaned out soon though is 19-year-old striker Ryan Edmondson. The youngster is set to get further experience to enhance his career, having had a spell at Aberdeen earlier this season.

Replying to a tweet about a possible move to Northampton Town for the player, the YEP’s Graham Smyth tweeted: “A League One moved would be ideal for Edmondson. Expecting something to be confirmed in the next couple of days.

“As an aside, he did sign a new three-year deal with Leeds United this season.”

Another young Leeds man, midfielder Jordan Stevens, joined League Two neighbours Bradford City this week on loan.

And according to reports elsewhere today, the door has opened for Leeds to swoop for a fellow Premier League defender.

Here’s a round-up of some of the other transfer rumours, including Tomori, involving Leeds and their Premier League rivals this evening:
