And last season, Leeds United’s 100th year, was the best for some time. We are back in the Premier League after 16 years away There have been many periods of hurt and dismay during that time, but that heartache only served to strengthen you, and us, for the challenges that we faced in 2019/20, a season like no other.

And we met those challenges head on to secure promotion from the Championship.

Our head coach Marcelo Bielsa has built a team and an ethos that fills every Leeds United fan with enormous pride.

It certainly makes my chest swell with pride to be the captain of this wonderful club, one we can all now say is a Premier League club once again.

But this is not the end of the journey. Promotion isn’t the be all and end all. This is just the start. Twenty years ago, Leeds United was a name on the lips of every club across Europe. We can reach that reverential status again.

Together with Marcelo at the helm, sensible people in the boardroom, a core of young, hungry players, and you cheering us on, we can take the Premier League by storm and make the name of Leeds United resonate loud and proud across Europe and beyond.

So let’s enjoy this accomplishment, but without getting too comfortable, because what awaits us in the season ahead and beyond that, is very exciting indeed.

Leeds United are back.

Thank you

Liam Cooper, captain, Leeds United.
