Leeds United will have a verdict on Chris Wood’s fitness in the next 24 hours and details of his injury passed on by New Zealand is encouraging the club to think that the striker will recover in time for Saturday’s game at Reading.

Wood suffered a knock in a World Cup qualifier between New Zealand and Fiji on Saturday, an injury which All Whites coach Anthony Hudson described as “not too serious”, but it leaves United boss Garry Monk to consider contingency plans in the event that Wood misses his third league game of the season.
