Leeds have seen a bid for the 23-year-old winger rejected with United believed to have offered around £10m to land the Rangers star's services.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has admitted a higher offer could take a decision on Kent out of his hands but Nicholas believes the forward is worth at least £20m.

Writing in his Daily Express column as quoted by the Daily Record, Nicholas said: "Rangers shouldn’t even consider selling Ryan Kent for anything less than £20million.

"Leeds United are desperate to sign him and you can understand why. He is young and he has talent.

"Some big figures have been mentioned, including last week’s failed £10m bid, but even if Leeds come back in with £14m, I don’t see any value in that for Rangers – they would be short-changing themselves.

"It is such a big season for the Ibrox club as they try to stop Celtic getting 10-in-a-row. Steven Gerrard’s team are going for title number one – but what a big one it would be.

"So I just can’t see Rangers selling someone they paid £7m for unless they’re made an offer they can’t refuse. And, for me, that has to be £20m-plus."
