Check out our at a glance guide to Leeds United’s clash with Cardiff City in South Wales.
Key Battle - Rickie Lambert v Pontus Jansson
Two appearances but no goals for the striker who banged them in for Bristol Rovers in League One while Leeds United were struck in that division. Lambert, however, he is someone who should help to cure Cardiff’s problems up front. Leeds have had problems with him in the past and his strength and his finishing were responsible for edging him towards the England squad a few years ago. This might be one for Pontus Jansson to deal with.
Key Man - Anthony Pilkington
The former Huddersfield Town midfielder is always liable to come up with something and he has produced half of Cardiff’s strikes in the league this season. It is telling that City’s only Championship win, at home to Blackburn Rovers, relied on two own goals from Shane Duffy and most other sides have done a good job of keeping their midfield in check. Pilkington is a danger man though.
Last time at the Cardiff City Stadium:
Tuesday, March 8, 2016
Cardiff City 0 Leeds United 2
Goals: Leeds - Doukara 37, Antenucci 90.
Phil Hay’s view: “A game not unlike Tuesday’s match at Elland Road. Leeds cannot think of themselves as a team in form yet and Cardiff are very much a team out of form after three straight losses and a slide into the bottom three. Both sides have an identical failing - high on concessions, low on goals scored - and a tight, attritional game is guaranteed. Again, it is one that Leeds should be capable of winning, no matter their general record in Cardiff.”
Home win - 17/14
Draw - 12/5
Away win - 5/2
