Bristol City striker Matty Taylor has had the red card shown to him for his clash with Leeds United’s Gaetano Berardi rescinded by the Football Association on appeal.

The FA accepted Taylor’s claim of wrongful dismissal after Bristol City challenged his sending off towards the end of Leeds’ 3-0 win at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Taylor reacted angrily to an 80th-minute tackle from Berardi by confronting the Leeds left-back, who headbutted the forward in return and received a straight red card from referee Oliver Langford.

Langford then ordered Taylor from the field, leaving both sides to play out the final 10 minutes with 10 men.

Berardi will begin a three-match ban during tonight’s Carabao Cup tie at Leicester City after Leeds accepted his dismissal but Taylor has been handed a reprieve by the FA.
