The forecaster says: "It will be another cold and windy day, with bright or sunny spells and wintry showers. Showers will be most frequent in the west, with the best of the sunshine further east. Further snow accumulations are expected over the hills. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

"Staying windy overnight with clear spells and further wintry showers. It will be a cold night, with a frost in places, and the risk of icy patches. Minimum temperature 0 °C."

The journey is roughly 3 hours 45 minutes, taking in either the M1 or the A1, though the M1 seems a better bet in bad conditions.

The weather is mostly clear for the journey, but Milton Keynes has snow forecast for 7pm.
