YEP’s Phil Hay provides his verdict on Leeds United’s 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park
Adryan. The result got away from Leeds in the end but the boy from Brazil was a treat to watch before half-time. You wondered if he’d be up to playing the Championship but in his better spells, it looks as natural to him as beach football is to natives of Rio.
Marco Silvestri. Liam Cooper will take some of the blame for Blackburn’s equaliser but the situation was Silvestri’s to control and negate. Leeds will suffer badly for generosity like this.
Rhodes’ first goal. Make no mistake, Blackburn were starting to get into the game. But to give him a goal on a plate was criminal and United were punished accordingly. No wonder Redfearn’s players looked broken at full-time.
Gary Bowyer. “It’s our best win of the season. In the second half we totally dominated. I can’t remember Leeds coming out too often before the sending off. From where I was standing, the penalty was a stonewaller.”
Neil Redfearn. “We deserved to win. That’s the bottom line. Blackburn didn’t deserve anything. But we gave them the first goal and the second goal was a penalty which has never been a penalty. Those decisions referees have to get right. It should have been a yellow card for simulation.”
