  • FT: Aston Villa 3-3 Leeds United

1. We’re up and running at Villa Park... updates to come.

2. Some nice play on the near side from Coutinho, Digne wins a corner as Llorente blocks.

3. The corner is swung into the near post, the ball hits Koch in the face and Meslier has to block the ball. It was heading in. Leeds then win a free-kick at the next corner ball.

6. Ball hammered across the Leeds box by Cash. Got in behind Harrison. Watkins was lurking but it’s cleared, eventually.

7. Leeds pass themselves into trouble. Llorente pass to Meslier isn’t convincing, keeper passes it out for a corner. Meslier punches the ball in clear, though.

8. A dazzling run from Ayling into the Villa half. He feeds Raphinha out wide and Leeds win themselves a corner ball. Dallas delivers but it’s headed away at the near post.

GOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!

DAN JAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leeds take the lead!

11. Villa slack in possession, Rodrigo puts them under pressure and the ball ends up at the feet of Daniel James and he fires home into the far corner of the net. Oh yes! 0-1!

12. Leeds win a corner ball. Harrison on the far side, United enjoying possession. Villa clear the danger, though.

14. Lovely play from Leeds. Rodrigo feeds James into the box, he shoots low and Martinez gets down low to save from a tight angle. Harrison was at the back post free.

16. James leaves Mings on the deck with a barge, Leeds throw is the decision. Leeds certainly enjoying more of the ball since the opener.

19. Leeds break quickly. It’s a counter. Klich wins the ball and releases Dan James, who cuts inside and sees his cross headed behind with Rodrigo waiting at the back post. Villa defend the set-piece.

21. Mings tries to thread a ball through the Leeds defence for Coutinho but the flag goes up.

23. Koch wins the ball... and somehow it’s a free-kick to Villa around 30-yards from goal. Buendia went down, but the Leeds man clearly came away with the ball first. Let’s hope nothing comes of this...

24. The free-kick is overhit. McGinn and Digne combine to cross again but Struijk hooks the ball away from the box. Villa win a corner ball from the resulting throw.

25. Huge chance for Villa. Mings breaks free of Llorente, he has a clear header at goal but he puts it inches past the post. Should’ve scored.

27. Good pressure from the visitors. Dallas, Klich and Harrison all see crosses dealt with by Villa. Buendia tries to break out for the hosts with a good turn but wastes the ball forward.

29. Aghhhhh! What a move from Leeds. Harrison down the left, he spins back and plays James in. One touch and bang. 20-yards out and his effort smashes the crossbar. So close!
