'The analysis should include that our offensive game was better than our opponents' - Marcelo Bielsa on Leeds United's defeat to Everton

The Elland Road clash ended 2-1 to the men from Merseyside, but a dominant second half performance from the Whites had them under the cosh.

Goalkeeper Robin Olsen was forced into a number of hugely important saves and his woodwork came to the rescue twice during the game.

"I think the effort was very big," said Bielsa.

"I think we did enough to draw the game and even then we could have gone on to win it.

"That's to say we had enough chances in the first and second half to draw the game.

"We managed to avoid the third goal and we scored a goal when we had plenty of time to get back into it and try to win it."

Time ran out before an equaliser could arrive, however and Leeds were left to rue defensive errors for both Everton goals.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was able to ghost into the area to convert Lucas Digne's cross and then a Ben Godfrey flick on from a corner was crashed into the net by an unmarked Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Bielsa admitted his side might have defended better for the second goal but stressed that Leeds were offensively superior to the visitors.

"It is very common when there's a flick on at the front post that someone is going to get on the end of it at the back post," said Bielsa.

"Given that it's a frequent move we maybe could have been intuitive and prevented it from happening.

"For the first goal Sigurdsson found himself very alone which is not very frequent.

"I think the analysis should include that our offensive game was better than our opponents.

"I think our offensive game was enough for us to think or imagine we could have scored more with the opportunities we created. "Normally we could have scored three or four."
