Adam Forshaw reveals Leeds United players joy over working with Marcelo Bielsa

Adam Forshaw says Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has been a joy to work with for the Whites squad following promotion to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old was limited to just seven appearances under the Argentine this term after suffering a complex hip problem last summer.

Forshaw initially attempted to battle through the injury in the early stages of the season but made his last appearance for the Whites in September at Charlton Athletic.

He then underwent season-ending surgery in February in Colorado at the world-renowned Steadman Clinic after failing to find a cure for the issue.

The United midfielder has now started full training again at Thorp Arch in preparation to be fully fit for the new top flight campaign which begins in mid-September.

Forshaw caused headlines ahead of the season's restart by claiming that the club's return to England's elite after 16 years would be a "formality" once the campaign resumed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Bielsa's side, though, proved him right as they finished the prolonged season as champions and 10 points ahead of second-placed West Bromwich Albion.

"We're hardworking and honest. We do the fundamentals," Forshaw said of what had led to Leeds' title-winning campaign.

"We have a lot of young talent mixed with the guidance of the manager and his staff. It was the perfect recipe in the end.

"It wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for Marcelo Bielsa. His methods and what he has done since he came in has been unbelievable. He's been a joy to work with.

"I'm so proud of the lads. I would have loved to have been out there and part of it more this season but I'm so looking forward to next season now."

United ended the year on a high as they claimed victories over Derby County at Pride Park and Lee Bowyer's Addicks at Elland Road in style with the title and promotion already wrapped up.

"The shackles came off and they really enjoyed themselves," Forshaw concluded.

"It was two of the better performances probably all season. We were free flowing and it was brilliant to watch."
